HNLA to Support A Collaborative Research Initiative: Promoting Social Sustainability in Vietnam’s Global Supply Chains
The Hanoi Logistics Association (HNLA) proudly supports an academic research initiative titled “Unveiling Capabilities for Social Sustainability in Global Value Chains” led by Dr. Irina Dovbischuk, Associate Professor at Mount Royal University, Canada.
Vietnam’s dynamic growth as a vital player in global value chains has significantly contributed to the country’s economic development and international stature. This progress is built upon the resilience, dedication, and increasing capabilities of Vietnamese companies, particularly in the logistics and manufacturing sectors. Ensuring these businesses remain competitive on the global stage requires continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
This research seeks to deepen understanding of how Vietnamese companies integrate social sustainability within their operations – aligning with Vietnam’s comprehensive legal framework, including the Vietnam Labor Code, the government’s National Strategy on Corporate Social Responsibility, and commitments to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These policies reflect Vietnam’s proactive approach to fostering responsible business practices that protect workers’ rights, promote fair wages, and uphold safe working environments.
The research’s goal is to identify best practices, encourage knowledge exchange, and support Vietnamese firms in enhancing their social sustainability capabilities – thereby securing Vietnam’s role as a trusted and indispensable partner in international trade.
HNLA participated this project by fostering open dialogue between business leaders and academia. It underscores the shared vision that the future success of global value chains depends on competitive, capable, and socially responsible Vietnamese suppliers working on equal footing with global partners.
HNLA reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable development in Vietnam’s logistics and manufacturing sectors, advancing the country’s economic goals while contributing positively to global sustainability efforts. All HNLA members are welcome to take participation in the research on a voluntary basis.
